Who thought this was a good idea?

TV commercials are incredible things, especially when they suck (Definition of suck: To be really bad; To blow hardcore). And by suck I don't mean bore to tears. Car ads, for example, are stultifying creations replete with expensive locations and pretentious yammering about 4 wheel this and horsepower that. No, by suck I mean to be unwittingly awful because of a powerful combination of low production value, bad acting and horrendous concept. "Bad Ads" are worth their weight in gold purely for their humor and because most people have just enough heart and soul that they're willing to forgive and not forget, meaning mom and pop shops can compete with the big boys if their ads are terrible enough. Our first example of a "Bad Ad" is the American Medical Association's campaign to let patients know that they do in fact have "a voice." And what better way to illustrate this concept than to show a bunch of folks - a couple of whom look to be about as old as time - holding stethoscopes up to their mouths in a move that would have most doctors pulling the plug faster than you could say malpractice. First time I saw this, I cried from laughter. Even the actors look like they're about to lose it. Unfortunately, I can't upload the commercial, but here's a still which pretty much gets the point across. They can't even be serious...
